A Stress Dream
As the disciples reacted in fear in Matthew 17:5-8 when Christ’s majesty was confirmed by God. We call it Christ’s tranfiguration. Things were changing in front of their eyes, and they didn’t know what to do except fall back to regroup. They felt overwhelmed. Enough said? It’s almost trite in this culture to talk about feeling overwhelmed. But I’m discovering what to do….

Feel, Search, Act
I’ve finally learned all the self-help I encounter and put in practice still has to end with taking everything back to God for completion. Everything out there that helps us grow, or identify the problems that block living a Godly life is good, but it all still needs to end with us presenting ourselves to God. In the end, God does the work inside us so we can lay aside the problems we have identified. Then we can become a force for good in other people’s lives.

Today’s Peacemaker
As the fourth of July approaches, our thought again turn toward the illusive idea of peace for our nation. A quick study of Matthew 5:9 points toward what I can do to become a peacemaker.

Envy of Unbelief
God never discourages honest questions or doubt. When resolved, they often leave us on less rocky, more solid ground. The hard part sometimes is confessing the envy of those who don’t seem to need God, or the doubts,or questions. Don’t be afraid. God doesn’t run away the minute we have questions. Take it from someone who travels that road frequently.
