Staying Out of Trouble
Why do some people seem to live without getting into all the scraps and brushes with trouble adn terrrible consequesces of life’s decisions? I believe we can ask God to give us wisdom to see what the end result of our actions will be… while we are in the process of making the decision. Maybe God can help us not have to utter that phrase “What was I thinking?” The devotion comes from Psalms 119:98.

Don’t Touch My Christmas
This is my half-humorous, mostly serious declaration of why Christmas is not just for kids. It’s not, you know.

Forever and Always In God’s Presence
In this devotion from my second novel, The Twins of Zae, I record my fascination with our concepts of being in the presence of God, yet having the presence of God within us.

A Straight Line To God
God Writes straight with a crooked lines. We always head for God, but the line is not always straight. Distractions, new lessons, growth spurts, our own stubbornness and God’s own lessong to learn often add kinks, curves, and turns in our life’s road toward God.

The Absence of Angst
I hope you all are looking forward to the Thanksgiving spirit of November. I have been so full of God and his blessings I just have wanted to sit back and indulge in feeling them. I wrote about it on my blog. Enjoy ‘The Absence of Angst.’

Picking Up Pebbles
Just lately I was challenged with an idea that we often pick up pebbles in life that help us solve temporary problems and don’t give them to God, our rock and salvation. And when it’s all over, all we have is a pocket full of pebbles and have traveled further from God than we thought. I get so busy trying to fix things I forget God most likely has a different, more lasting solution. And sometimes I’m trying to fix things I’m not responsible to fix… oh, that hits so close it hurts, doesn’t it? Why do I keep reading these devotional books that make me think? :)

Satan’s Ammunition
“Satan can only use what we try to hide.” A lady named Sondra Redmon said that to me lately. I liked it.

To Everything Its Own Time
I fell into a manhole called “what good am I to anyone?” I didn’t see anyone one all day, didn’t lift anyone out of the depths of despair, didn’t change someone’s life. So, I asked myself what good am I? And God said “Someone has to do laundry, and you are elected.” What’s your equivalent to laundry?…..

LIMITS
We have become increasingly afraid of putting limits on children, ourselves, social programs, and other good things that need boundaries. In the past several years I have begun to see linits in a new light. What if limits become guidelines? Or things that keep us out of trouble? What if…. limits are really good things? hmmmm.
