Sometimes the study of the Old Testament prophets as related to Christmas gets a little slow when held up to the excitement of the New Testament account of the angels and manger and mysterious men from the East. But a gem was pointed out this week, and maybe it will also help you to put things in perspective.
I’ve gone off the deep end again. But again, the devotional places in my life have been talking about the same things, so here I go. I hope you take something away with you.
I have often noticed how we as humans do things backwards from the way God does. Is 55:8 aludes to that, and the whole chapter is about God’s work. This devotion is the result of several things I’ve read lately about people who love animals and hate people, who love a cause and kill to prove it, and those unimaginable things that happen when political parties and other causes become all consuming. I hope I don’t ever get more controversial than this. It’s not my nature, but I’m as prone to letting God slip to second place as everyone else. I’m reminding myself as well as anyone who reads this.
