What was that you said?
God’s word isn’t relevant?
Its words don’t conjure up images for today’s world?
Doesn’t it speak of shepherds and rural life, not our bustling urban language?

The ancient people had an idea about the spoken word.
Once it was uttered, it had an ‘independent existence.’
It wasn’t just a sound, but had power and it went out and did things.
They were effective, penetrating, and took on a life of their own.

So, be careful what you put out there.
Take care of what you post on public chat boards.
Once you put it out there, it takes on a life of its own.
Its words are good but are two-edged.

Are you listening to the public service announcements?
You know, the ones aimed toward teen age social network users.
The words on your social networks help you connect,
But those pictures, those words are there for ever.

So, here’s a contemporary picture of God’s word.
It’s powerful, like words posted, a two-edged sword.
It tells us of the good, loving relationship with God,
But also lets us know there is another side to eternity.

God’s word is effective. It has communicative power.
It instructs us, and connects us with God and His family.
It is alive even though it’s just words.
It’s infused with God’s presence.

There comes a time in our life when can run no farther,
When we come face to face with the author of God’s word.
And we have to decide what to do about the relationship to which it calls us.
We are compelled to look into the face of God and understand what we have ‘posted’ in life.

What God has said isn’t only alive and active! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts. Nothing is hidden from God! He sees through everything, and we will have to tell him the truth. Hebrews 4: 12-13 CEV
