Rolling Up The Earth

ROLLING UP THE EARTH

10 He also says to the Son,

“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth
      and made the heavens with your hands.
 11 They will perish, but you remain forever.
      They will wear out like old clothing.
 12 You will fold them up like a cloak
      and discard them like old clothing.
   But you are always the same;
      you will live forever.”

 Hebrews 1:10-12  ESV

I’ve lived long enough to actually wear clothes out. Not out grow them, or overgrow them, But in their hole filled, ragged state, they are even beyond passing them on. And I roll them up, getting ready to discard them. This picture of the infinity of Christ Existing forever, Until the earth is so old Jesus will pick it out of orbit and prepare it for discarding. This is not about the end of the world. It’s about the divinity of Christ. Not about how short life is, But about Christ still existing long after I’m gone. Why is that important? The greatness and power of Jesus Has a bearing on my confidence In the abilities God has given him to be with me.  He will not con me into believing Then be gone tomorrow When the hard times come, Leaving me to wonder what’s going to happen next time. Jesus is not my friend today And tomorrow abandon me for someone else, Like teen-age girls trading best friends. But the steadfastness of God is also His. To catch a glimpse of the majesty Of everything given to Jesus by God Changes the level of trust. I can turn loose and ask Jesus to change me first.
